Some seeds need to be subjected to cold
treatment in the refrigerator at roughly 40°F
to promote germination, called vernalization. In colder
areas, this step is not necessary.
Seeds like Columbine
germinate fairly quickly and can be sown outdoors
midwinter or early spring after a cold spell in the
refrigerator.
Sow seeds on top of a light
soil mix and lightly press into the mix. Leave the pots to
then sit in a pan full of water, so the mix absorbs the
water from the bottom, an hour or so.
From this point, be careful
the seeds never dry out as they will be forced into an
ever deeper dormancy. Columbines like dappled shade or
full sun.

We offer
four varieties of grass seed,
Shade Blend, no Mow (for a
natural meadow look requiring low
water), Bolero Plus, and 90-10. We
recommend using Bolero fertilizer
which is formulated by the the
sod company for our part of the
country using special micro
nutrients to ensure a healthy
lawn.
